A Williams Lake business owner is warning others about a company — easily mistaken for Yellow Pages — that is soliciting advertising dollars. Jackie LaFlamme, who owns Info Book in Williams Lake, says she received a form asking companies to register with YellowPage-BritishColumbia.com. “They give you a very short deadline,” LaFlamme says. “When you do it, you fill it out, and you send it in, you’re locked into $119 a month for a minimum of two years.” LaFlamme says YellowPage-BritishColumbia.com is based out of the UK and isn’t affiliated with Yellow Pages.

“I don’t want anyone to get scammed into this because that’s thousands of dollars,” LaFlamme says.In January, The Better Business Bureau issued a warning to Vancouver Island businesses to be wary of fax and e-mail solicitations targeting companies and encouraging them to advertise in a business directory with a similar name to Yellow Pages.
